The .450 Nitro Express 3.25" was the first Nitro Express cartridge developed by John Rigby around 1898. Developed for the purpose of hunting large dangerous game such as elephants and rhinocerous using single-shot and double express rifles. Designed for hot climates in general and is associated with the Golden Age of African safaris and Indian shikars. The .450 NE 3.25" has a muzzle velocity of 2,150 ft/s with 4,909 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.
